Summer Time And I don’t mean the song by The Fresh Prince. Although, that song was released in 1991 and every time I hear it I crank it up. It’s been hot in North Carolina . I don’t mean west coast it’s 100 but it’s a dry heat hot, I mean the A/C in our house never stops and the dog won’t even go outside humid type of hot. I like the weather out here, I rub it in to my parents when it’s 90 here and raining in Seattle …in July. Speaking of which, my dad was out last week for 5 days. It was really nice. We golfed twice, he went to a Nashville test with me, we hung out, we drank a few beers. On the golf note, I beat him both times we played. We played Sky Brooke, and were tied going to 18. He couldn’t handle the pressure and choked. I shot a 94 and he shot a 97. I hadn’t played in about a year (starting a family will do that to you) and my dad struggles when he plays in Carolina . I dunno why, back home he normally will shoot sub 90 scores. It was fun having him at the Nashville test, too. My parents have only seen me in one of these type cars once, at Charlotte in 2005 when I ran Nationwide for Biagi Brothers Racing. I gotta get my mom out here next, but I don’t think she’ll think a test is as cool as my dad since he was my crew chief back home. In my last blog I talked about our softball playoffs. Well, we had a rain out and the games were pushed back a week. We had a lot of tests that day, and I had only 3 of 10 players available to play Waltrip’s second team (they have two in the league) so we had to forfeit. Everyone on the team was really bummed the way the schedule worked out, but we’ll get after it again next year. It was really fun. Maybe I can find a fall league to play on again this year. One of these days I’ll get Mandi to update her blog. She’s a pretty busy gal with Grace, working from home part time and all that. Thanks again for reading. Life just keeps getting busier and busier for us. With the added CTS races in the #4 truck for Bobby Hamilton Racing he's been gone every weekend for the last couple of months. I'm definitely not complaining though - bring on more races anytime! I've only missed one race this year - Kentucky a couple of weeks ago. That was tough, but my good friend Jessica came over and watched it on TV with me. It's never easy to be at home while he's racing, but having friends around makes it a lot better, so "Thanks Jess!" Milwaukee was a blast last weekend. Kevin's birthday was that Friday and the garage closed early, so we were able to go to a Brewers baseball game with some of the guys from the team. We had a great time and they won! Saturday was really busy since it was a one day show - practice early, qualifying and then the race. It sure makes for a long day, especially since I had an early morning flight back to Charlotte Sunday morning. Ughhh, but I made it thank goodness! Well we're off to Memphis this weekend and I'm really excited. Maybe we'll even have some extra time to check out the city! P.S.
